Our status
IFEIA is an independent, private, non-governmental accreditation body. We accredit under our own published standards and system. Our authority is exactly that: the standards we publish, the process we follow and the record we keep. It is not a government licence, and we never imply that it is.
What you can rely on
- Published standards. The seven framework axes and what we look for under each are open to read.
- A documented process. Inquiry, application, self-assessment, review, decision and annual monitoring, each described.
- Reasoned decisions. Every outcome is recorded with its scope, level, dates and duration.
- A public registry. Each accredited institution has a record page, a numbered certificate and a QR code that resolves to the record.
- Appeals and complaints. A procedure that is separate from the original decision.
Keeping decisions sound
Anyone taking part in a review or decision declares any interest in the applicant: financial, professional, family, or a link of ownership or management. Where an interest exists, that person takes no part. Declarations and the action taken are recorded. The full rules are in the Conflict of Interest policy.
Institutions may hold accreditation or recognition from more than one body. That is normal and does not conflict with an IFEIA accreditation, which speaks only to our standards and to the scope stated on the record.
Registry integrity
An entry changes only by a recorded decision: a new accreditation, a change of scope, a suspension, a withdrawal or an expiry. The registry shows the current status and its effective date. Where a decision takes effect on a future date, the record says Effective from that date and changes to Active on it.
