Code of conduct

The standards of behaviour expected of IFEIA staff, committee members, reviewers, panel members and applicants.

Who it applies to

Everyone who takes part in IFEIA work: Accreditation Committee members, independent reviewers, Secretariat staff, appeals panel members, and applicant and accredited institutions and their representatives.

Principles

  • Act honestly and with integrity.
  • Treat every applicant fairly, by the same standard, and without discrimination on grounds such as nationality, religion, gender, ethnicity, disability or age.
  • Keep confidential what is shared in confidence, and use it only for the purpose it was given.
  • Declare any interest that could affect, or appear to affect, a judgement, and follow the Conflict of Interest policy.
  • Do not offer, give, ask for or accept bribes, gifts, hospitality or payments that could influence a decision. Comply with applicable anti-bribery and anti-corruption laws.
  • Never guarantee or promise an outcome.
  • Be courteous and professional with everyone, including in disagreement.

Reviewers and committee members

  • Base findings on evidence, and say what evidence supports each finding.
  • Stay within the published standards and process.
  • Do not take part in any matter where you have an interest.
  • Do not use information from a review for any other purpose.

Applicant and accredited institutions

  • Provide accurate, complete and current information, and correct anything found to be wrong.
  • Report material changes to an accredited programme when they happen.
  • Do not try to influence reviewers or committee members outside the process.
  • Use the IFEIA name and badge only as the Use of the Mark policy allows.
  • Do not make misleading statements about the scope, level or meaning of an IFEIA accreditation.

Raising a concern

Anyone may raise a concern about conduct by writing to [email protected]. Concerns are examined by someone not involved in the matter. We do not tolerate retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith.

Breaches

A breach can lead to removal from a role, a review of any decision affected, and, for applicants and accredited institutions, suspension or withdrawal of accreditation under the published policy. The person concerned is given a fair chance to respond first, except where urgent action is needed to protect the integrity of the registry.

Effective 30 October 2026. Questions: [email protected].
