Appeals & complaints

A route that is separate from the original decision.

Appeals

An applicant or accredited institution may appeal a decision to decline, to accredit with conditions, to suspend or to withdraw.

  1. Notice. Write to [email protected] with the subject "Appeal", stating the decision appealed and the grounds.
  2. Acknowledgement. The Secretariat records the appeal and passes it to the Appeals panel. No one who took part in the original decision sits on the panel.
  3. Consideration. The panel considers the grounds, the original record and any new evidence that could not reasonably have been provided earlier.
  4. Outcome. The panel upholds the decision, amends it or refers it back to the Committee with directions. Its written reasons are given to the appellant.

Grounds for appeal include a procedural error, a decision not supported by the evidence on record, and a decision affected by an undeclared conflict of interest.

Complaints

You may complain about IFEIA's conduct or process, or about an accredited institution's use of its IFEIA accreditation or mark. Write to [email protected] with the subject "Complaint" and give the facts and any documents. Complaints about registry entries or certificates can go to [email protected].

Each complaint is recorded, acknowledged and examined by someone not involved in the matter. You will be told the outcome and its reasons. Misuse of the mark is dealt with under the Use of the Mark policy.

Confidentiality. Appeals and complaints are handled in confidence. Outcomes that change a registry status are public.
